THE ROLE
The key focus of this position is to manage complex tax compliance such as BAS, payroll tax and FBT, tax planning, and provide tax advice with a high degree of expertise.
This role ensures the accuracy and timely lodgement of tax compliance, providing tax advice to the management and support the department in maintaining solid internal controls and compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
The Senior Taxation Advisor plays an important role in the preparation of the team's deliverables.
This position requires excellent conceptual and analytical ability, self-management and stakeholder management skills, as they will work on completing a range of tasks independently and as part of a team.
The role will work closely with senior team members, and assist, contribute and complete various tasks to achieve the outcomes for the department.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
* Lead the preparation, review, and lodgement of the department's complex taxation returns, including Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Payroll Tax.
* Provide authoritative, practical advice on the tax implications of departmental activities, programs, grants, and commercial initiatives including input taxation and the margin scheme.




* Research and interpret complex tax legislation and ATO rulings to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with the Financial Management Act **** and relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, policies and guidelines.
