Consultant Psychiatrist | Tertiary Referral Hospital | Queensland The Opportunity We are working closely with a major tertiary referral health service in North Queensland to connect with a Consultant Psychiatrist for a full-time appointment within a comprehensive mental health service.
This position offers consultant-level practice across a large and clinically diverse regional network, with scope to contribute across acute, inpatient, consultation-liaison and community-linked models depending on service need and subspecialty alignment.
The mental health service spans care from child and youth through to older persons, with treatment delivered across inpatient units, community settings, residential rehabilitation and supported accommodation.
The role will suit a psychiatrist seeking scale, complexity and a meaningful leadership contribution within a tertiary environment that supports broad multidisciplinary practice, service integration and regional referral responsibility.
The Hospital This is the principal tertiary referral hospital for North Queensland and the largest facility within its health service.
The hospital provides all major specialties and includes a dedicated psychiatric unit, while also maintaining strong research and education links through its proximity to James Cook University and onsite research capability.
Townsville University Hospital's Emergency Department sees more than 82,000 presentations annually, reinforcing the scale of the acute service environment.
