Professional Recruitment Australia – Melbourne VICContract, Casual/TemporaryHybrid5d ago , from Professional Recruitment AustraliaForward Deployed AI EngineerContract - 6months +Melbourne basedAbout the opportunity:A leading Australian online business is scaling up its AI Business Transformation function and looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to embed directly with business teams.This is a high visibility, high agency role at the intersection of business diagnosis, workflow redesign and applied AI engineering, not a traditional back office build role.You'll take raw business problems from discovery through build, evaluation, production adoption and measurable value, working alongside technology, data and compliance functions.Sits within a growing AI Business Transformation team.The role:Translate raw business needs into transparent problem statements, baselines and delivery plans, working directly with business stakeholdersRedesign workflows across people, AI agents and systems, including human oversight, confidence thresholds and escalation pathsPrototype, build, test, harden and deploy AI-enabled workflows across enterprise systems, integrating models, data, APIs and human tasksDefine evaluation harnesses, regression suites and observability so solutions are safe, supportable and measurable in productionEstablish baselines and instrument metrics that prove real business value,



not just AI usage or technical deliveryWhat you'll bring:5+ years delivering technology enabled business change, with hands-on experience designing and building AI-enabled solutionsPractical, hands-on experience shipping AI-enabled applications, agents or intelligent workflows, including orchestration, RAG and context engineeringAbility to reason about model behaviour, failure modes and evaluation strategies, and make trade-offs across quality, latency, cost, reliability and riskComfortable working across Python and/or TypeScript, APIs, SQL, cloud environments and CI/CDExperience with evaluation strategies, guardrails, observability and AI lifecycle managementWhat's on offerDaily Rate: Not disclosedLocation: Melbourne CBD - Hybrid 1-3 office daysWorking in a new AI team with a business that's probably 6months ahead any other business in Australia in the AI game.Ready to shape how AI is delivered inside a major Australian business?
