We partner with top energy producers across Australia and internationally to design safe, reliable, and effective facilities from early concept through execution and operation.We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Designer with 3+ years experience to support the development and delivery of instrumentation and control system designs for oil and gas facilities projects.
In this role, you will work within multidisciplinary EPCM teams to develop design deliverables, coordinate with engineering disciplines, and contribute to project execution from concept through construction.Why Join Equinox?

Your role will include:Instrumentation & Controls DesignPrepare instrumentation and controls design deliverables including instrument location plans, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, junction box layouts, and installation detailsDevelop and maintain instrument indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, and related project documentationSupport the development and updating of P&IDs;, control system architecture drawings, and instrument datasheetsAssist with material take-offs (MTOs), material requisitions,
and specification documentationUtilize AutoCAD, CADWorx (3D), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/InTools), and related design tools to develop project deliverablesCoordination & Team CollaborationWork closely with process, piping, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural disciplines to ensure coordinated facility designsParticipate in design reviews and model reviews, incorporating feedback into design deliverablesSupport communication with internal project teams, vendors, and clientsContribute to the development and maintenance of department standards, procedures, and best practicesProject Execution & DeliverySupport the delivery of instrumentation and controls design packages in alignment with scope, schedule, and quality requirementsReview vendor documentation and incorporate approved information into project deliverablesAssist with procurement support activities and technical documentationMaintain project documentation, drawing registers, and design files in accordance with company proceduresConstruction & Field SupportSupport responses to RFIs and technical queries during construction and commissioningParticipate in site visits, inspections, and field engineering activities as requiredHelp ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project requirementsSafety, Quality & ComplianceFollow established engineering and design quality processes and proceduresSupport compliance with applicable Australian and international standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirementsDemonstrate commitment to safety, environmental,
and quality objectives throughout project executionSupport verification and checking activities to ensure accurate and consistent deliverablesAbout YouYou are a detail-oriented designer who enjoys technical design work, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to successful project outcomes.
You bring:Full Australian work rights and you are based in Brisbane3+ years of instrumentation and controls design experience in oil & gas, energy, industrial, or EPCM environmentsDiploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related disciplineStrong communication, organization, and collaboration skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environmentA proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvementTechnical FoundationUnderstanding of instrumentation and control systems used within oil & gas and process facilitiesExperience preparing instrumentation design deliverables including loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument datasheets, cable schedules, and instrument indexesFamiliarity with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and field instrumentation systemsKnowledge of instrumentation installation practices and control system documentationExposure to functional safety principles is considered an assetSoftware ProficiencyExperience with AutoCAD and instrumentation design softwareExperience with CADWorx or similar 3D tools would be an advantageSmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/InTools) experience considered an assetFamiliarity with 3D model review tools such as Navisworks is considered an assetProficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applicationsIf you're passionate about engineering excellence, enjoy leading technical scopes, and want to contribute to innovative and impactful energy projects, we'd love to hear from you.
