About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team at a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Oxenford. You will be supporting residents with diverse needs, including intellectual disability, trauma histories, and mental-health challenges. Your role is to promote independence, dignity, and meaningful daily living.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide respectful, person-centered support to residents
- Assist with daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication prompts)
- Support emotional wellbeing using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
- Build positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and clear communication
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with NDIS guidelines
- Encourage community participation, social engagement, and skill development




- Maintain accurate documentation and shift notes
- Work collaboratively with the team and follow individual support plans

Required Skills

- Compassion, patience, and strong emotional awareness
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and mental-health considerations
- Excellent communication skills, including de-escalation and active listening
- Respect for autonomy, boundaries, and individual differences
- Reliability, consistency, and commitment to ethical care
- Ability to follow behaviour support plans and safety procedures

Required Qualifications & Checks

- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or equivalent
- Current First Aid & CPR
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain)
- Blue Card if required
- Valid driver’s licence
- Experience in SIL or psychosocial disability support is highly regarded
