Job Description
In this full time, fixed term role (Maternity leave cover), based at Epworth Freemasons (East Melbourne) & Epworth Richmond, you will be responsible for supporting the team provide a high quality and innovative cryopreservation laboratory service as a Grade 1 Medical Scientist. You will be part of the cryopreservation team within Epworth’s Cellular Therapy Unit and report to the Laboratory Manager.
The medical scientist team provides laboratory services in support of the research at Epworth, including delivering CAR T-cell clinical trials, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), OGTR licenses, TGA and other relevant authorities and guidelines.
You will make an impact by:
- Generating high quality cellular products consistent with cGMP standards
- Participating in clinical trial activity including site initiation visits, specialised training and logistics specifically for CAR T-cell clinical trials
- Adhering to quality systems and procedures in a NATA/ISO15189 accredited laboratory
- Embracing skill extension, innovation and change in a dynamic environment
To be successful in this role…
you will be an experienced medical scientist who thrives working in a small,
dynamic team that’s closely integrated with the hospital service delivery, and eager to learn as new cellular therapy research and clinical trial opportunities present.
You will have:
- A minimum of 2 years previous experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory
- Experience in cryopreservation processing and/or cell therapies is desirable
- An understanding of operating in an ISO15189 accredited laboratory also desirable

Qualifications
- Bachelor Applied Science (Medical Science) or equivalent
