Eligibility: Open to EveryoneThe Department for Environment and
Water (DEW) is seeking an experienced and motivated Geospatial Data
Coordinator to lead the strategic management, governance and
stewardship of South Australia's environmental spatial data
assets.
Located within the Biodiversity Science, Coasts and Information
Branch, this role is responsible for coordinating the maintenance,
integration and quality assurance of authoritative geospatial
datasets.
Working across a diverse range of environmental and
technical programs, you will provide specialist leadership in
spatial data management, geospatial data governance and data
lifecycle management.
About the Role:
The Geospatial, Environmental Data
and Information (GEDI) Unit provides coordinated and timely spatial
and information management services and products, maintain
authoritative data, spatial systems and standards, and provide
analysis and advice on DEW's evidence base.
The Geospatial Data Coordinator
leads and coordinates a team of GIS officers responsible for
maintaining core spatial datasets within the departments
environmental spatial information system.
The role ensures that the
development, improvement, and stewardship of DEW's spatial datasets
align with the needs of the department, the state, and the national
Foundation Spatial Data Framework.
A key focus of the position is
driving process modernisation by evaluating new data sources and
incorporating emerging methodologies such as AI and machine
learning to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability of
the departments core spatial datasets.

Desirable Qualifications: A relevant
tertiary qualification in spatial science or natural resource
management is highly desirable.
Special Conditions:
May be required to participate in emergency preparedness,
response and recovery activities required by government
agencies.
You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or
provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows
you to work in Australia.
This role requires candidates to provide a Nationally
Coordinated Criminal History Check which must be renewed every
three years before expiry.
DEW will cover the cost of
renewal.
May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel,
occasional overnight absences,
and work outside of the normal
hours of work.
A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the
Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an
original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid
Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within
the last 12 months.
This information must be supplied by all

Remuneration: ASO6 ($105,747 min - $111,854
max) p.a.
