About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Officer to join our Broadacre team and support the delivery of field trials in Western Victoria.
This hands-on role covers each stage of the trial process, from site preparation and sowing through to crop monitoring, data collection and harvest.
Working closely with our Horsham based Research team, you will help ensure trials are completed safely, accurately and in line with trial protocols and AgXtra's Standard Operating Procedures.
The role would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work and wants to develop a career in agricultural research.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with trial site preparation, establishment, maintenance and harvest
Support sowing, spraying and harvesting activities
Collect and accurately record trial data
Monitor crop health and report issues affecting trial outcomes
Operate and maintain agricultural machinery and equipment
Follow trial protocols, Standard Operating Procedures and safety requirements
Maintain accurate records and support the integrity of trial data
Keep trial sites, equipment and work areas safe and organised
Work with the Research team to meet seasonal priorities and deadlines
About You
You are practical, dependable and comfortable working in a field-based setting.
You have strong attention to detail and understand the importance of following instructions, keeping accurate records and working safely.
You will also bring:
Experience in agriculture, field operations or a similar practical role
Broadacre experience or knowledge
A willingness to work outdoors in changing seasonal conditions
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Good communication and teamwork skills
The ability to manage competing priorities during busy periods
A current driver's licence
