This is a contract position that plays a vital role in our manufacturing and automotive services operations.
As a Fitter & Turner / Automotive Labourer, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and machining automotive components with precision and expertise.
Your work will directly contribute to the quality and reliability of our drive shaft products and services, making this a strategically important position within our production facility.Key responsibilitiesManufacturing, assembling and fitting of industrial, agricultural, marine and automotive drive shafts/propshafts and related parts with accuracy and attention to detailOperating and maintaining turning machinery and other specialised manufacturing equipmentMachining components to precise specifications using lathes, mills, and other machine toolsPerforming quality checks on finished tasks to ensure they meet industry standards and our customers requirementsPreparing and organising work areas, tools, and materials for efficient productionFollowing technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions accuratelyMaintaining a protected and clean working area in accordance with health and safety regulationsSupporting the wider production team to meet delivery deadlines and production targetsTroubleshooting and reporting equipment issues to supervisors and maintenance teamsWhat we look forProven experience working as an fitter and turner or in a similar machining and fitting role within the automotive or manufacturing industryStrong proficiency in operating turning equipment, lathes, mills, forklifts and other relevant machine toolsDemonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accuratelySound knowledge of fitting techniques, assembly procedures,



and quality control standardsCompetency in measuring and using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and gaugesA solid understanding of health and safety practices within a manufacturing environmentExcellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workStrong organisational and time management skillsAbility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative teamRelevant qualifications or certifications in machining, fitting, or automotive trades are advantageousExperience with drive shaft manufacturing or automotive components is highly desirableWhat we offerM&S; Drive Shafts Pty Ltd offers a competitive remuneration package for contract work.
