ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to an entrepreneurial and highly influential Group Finance Manager (GFM), this broad Management Accountant is a highly visible and crucial role. The purpose of the role is to assist the GFM by building a best-of-breed finance function thus enabling commercially responsible decision making. In this highly autonomous and empowering role you will have exposure across the entire business. This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its aggressive growth ‘expansion phase’ through the building of strong foundations supported by a solid FP&A; process and commercial framework.

As the Management Accountant, you will support the Group Finance Manager remit in ultimate accountability for end to end commercial management across the company. Critical to the role will be developing a 'Vision' for superior service in finance. This will involve driving automation and creating efficiencies in finance processes. The key success factor will be your ability to understand inventory management.

This role not only requires an excellent technical and analytical mind but also someone that can think outside of the box and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to a high performing Group Finance Manager and working closely with the Group Financial Controller and senior leadership team, your key responsibilities will include:

- Managing month end & year end consolidated financial reporting efficiently and effectively;
- Balance Sheet & Cash Flow management in particular identifying working capital issues ahead of time;
- Regional / divisional / entity and other levels of reporting and analysis, provide insights into the business and ultimately drive improvements in business performance;
- Proactively working with the business units to drive the implementation of robust and efficient systems;




- Effective communication with non-finance minded operational staff often working in remote locations for various business units & divisions. This is crucial in the ability for the GFM and Group Financial Controller to support the business and successfully drive change;
- Budgeting, Forecasting and Planning - Provide insightful and timely reporting, variance analysis and commentaries, financial modelling and rolling forecasting models; Provide ad hoc analysis on profitability and commercial viability of new business opportunities.
- Commercial Support and Analysis - Build meaningful relationships to deliver beneficial commercial outcomes to the business, teams and customers; Provide commercial support for P&L;/price planning, and cost benefit analysis as well as customer, margin and product analysis.
- Ensuring accounting methodologies used in all businesses are in line with AASB accounting standards;
- Assisting with all tax compliance issues (FBT, GST, Income Tax, Payroll Tax etc.);
- Ensuring appropriate cost control across the business;
- Effective establishment of governance and control framework including the identification and management of risks;
- Working with external auditors in conjunction with the GFM for financial audits.
- Process Improvement – in conjunction with the rest of the finance team, drive continuous improvements and innovation leveraging technologies and applications.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate is a qualified CA/CPA who has experience as either a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant or Finance Business Partner with a strong understanding of managing and coordinating month end processes. Furthermore, the ideal candidate is confident engaging in discussions with key stakeholders with the ability to build effective working relationships. Our client is also open to Big 4/Mid-tier first movers.

In addition, you will ideally have:

- Commercial finance acumen with a proven track record of actively driving commercial agendas across the business;
- Affinity with business systems and financial processes - experience with ERP systems as well as experience with Power BI although not essential.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data and identify risks and opportunities;
- Highly developed written & verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of key stakeholders;
- Pro-active and customer focused mind set;
- Superior stakeholder management, including advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
