Principal DevOps Engineer
NSW Data Analytics Centre (DAC)

The team and the role
The Data Analytics Centre (DAC) exists to lead a whole-of-government approach to data analytics, to tackle some of the State's most difficult policy challenges. Using data analytics, managed analytics (powered by the DAC's Advanced Analytics Platform), and guided innovations programs, the DAC works to connect data, people and insights to build world-class capabilities in whole-of-government data analytics to improve health and well-being, safety, social, economic and environmental outcomes for the citizens of NSW.
Are you a Developer passionate about Cloud Automation & DevOps/DevSecOps and possess a keen interest to solve complex problems with a systematic approach? Are you seeking a new opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge digital platforms using the latest cloud technologies?
One of the core teams for this leading Advanced Data Analytics capability in NSW Government is looking for a Cloud Engineer to help uplifting its state-of-the-art platforms, establishing truly automated CI:CD processes, looking at new tooling and where appropriate helping to further secure its already industry-leading Advanced Data Analytics platform.
This team operates entirely on the cloud, utilizing all 3 major cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud but primarily Azure. You will be responsible for the architecture, design, development, testing, and operations of the platforms. We are looking to fill a principal role in the team. The role provides a lot of opportunity to take ownership and deliver.
What you will be doing:
- Maintaining high quality secure code and infrastructure, identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities leveraging tools like Cloud Strike
- Implementation and management of Azure cloud security services
- Working with programming/scripting languages suitable for cloud automation
- SIEM logging & event management tools such as SumoLogic
- Operations, maintenance, platform reliability engineering, and security with IAM solutions like OKTA
- CI/CD, DevOps automation engineering and processes using tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Exposure to API management and hosting would be a bonus
All about the Tech..
- Experience in programming
- Background in working extensively with cloud technologies
- Cloud experience with cloud platforms (i.e., Azure, GCP, AWS)
- Experience with Zendesk
- Experience in all tools is certainly not essential but as a minimum ideally you will have Azure experience and implementing Cloud Infrastructure (including associated tooling)
