My client is searching for someone comfortable being responsible for preparing and analysing financial and performance reporting information to ensure accurate and timely reporting, providing cost analysis support to site operations and assisting the Group Finance Manager in fulfilling group accounting requirements.

The Role

- 9 month fixed term contract (strong possibility of going permanent)
- $140,000 - $160,000

Job Duties

- Standard accruals;
- Monthly recurring journals;
- Cost re-allocation journals;
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts;
- Analyse and explanation of actual versus budget cost variances; and
- Prepare and distribute cost review reports to management.
- Perform project accounting and reporting for new ventures and exploration activities as required;
- Prepare/review BAS/GST returns;
- Assist in statutory financial reporting requirements including:
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of half yearly an annual financial reports to comply with all ASX and ASIC reporting requirements;




- Prepare supporting accounting and tax schedules for statutory half yearly and annual financial reporting periods;
- Provide analytical support for management and site operations;
- Provide financial advice and liaise with Site Managers to identify financial and operational issues and recommend solutions;
- Identification of cost reductions and cost control initiatives across the business;
- Participate in monthly site cost review meetings;
- Develop Power Bi reports as required;
- Prepare and submit ABS surveys; and
- Perform duties delegated or assigned from time to time by the Group Finance Manager.

Required Qualifications

- Membership of relevant professional bodies e.g. CPA or CAANZ
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position within the mining industry
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience in using Pronto software is highly preferred
• Working knowledge of accounting processes and systems
• Robust analytical and problem solving ability
• Strong attention to detail
