Working as an Accountant within the Federal Government based in Hobart for a 12 months fixed term contract .

Your new company

Hays are working with a Federal Government sector in their search for a capable experienced Accountant to join their team on a 12 months fixed term full-time basis. A leader within their field, they have operations right across the country, and are unique and diverse work culture that are well known within the community.

Your new role

You will be working closely with the Finance team to provide a range of general accounting, AP/AR, and project related work to support the effective, efficient, and consistent project delivery of their major projects. Due to internal movements, this has created this rare opportunity for an experienced accountant to join this high performing team. On a day-to-day basis you'll be performing the following functions.
Preparation of monthly management reports for the Executive Leadership Group

- Assist the Head of finance with organisation planning and strategy activities
- Carry on the Accounts Payable function
- Work with the broader Finance Team to improve the financial performance of the business
- Assist with financial management enquires and ensure that the information provides is accurate, relevant, and timely
- Invoicing, journal entries and reconciliation
- Other project related work





What you'll need to succeed

You need to be an Australian Citizen, a self-starter and you'll be degree qualified. You'll demonstrate a dedication to continuous improvement and are technically savvy with experience across complex financial systems. Your excellent communication skills are underpinned by strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities through which you can demonstrate good judgement and financial acumen. You'll enjoy working with other Finance professionals and enjoy partnering with various professionals across the business. Experience using a large ERP like Oracle, SAP, or Technology one is desired but not essential.
