About the Business Unit





The Justice Officer is a position in Corporate Governance and Support team with the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), North West Metropolitan Area (NWMA).

The North West Metropolitan Area (NWMA) accounts for approximately 1800 staff across 21 sites. These sites are located in either the North or West of the Area and deliver a range of services including: custodial services at prisons, Community Correctional Services, Youth Justice Services, Sheriff's Operations, Consumer Affairs, front of house enquiries (including Births, Deaths and Marriages applications) and management of community services (including Victims' Support across the area). In addition, there are two Executive Officer roles of the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Council, West and North.

Located across the NWMA are fourteen non-custodial locations in the Melbourne CBD, Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, Reservoir, South Morang, Melton, Sunshine, Werribee, Derrimut, Laverton, Tullamarine and Thomastown, plus the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood, and the Court Services Unit at the Melbourne Magistrates Court. There are four youth justice office locations in Broadmeadows, Reservoir, Werribee and Sunshine. There are three maximum security prisons - Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, Melbourne Assessment Prison and the Metropolitan Remand Centre, as well as the minimum-security Judy Lazarus Transition Centre.

About the Role

The Justice Officer role is to deliver friendly, efficient customer service to clients of the Department of Justice and Regulation, as well as providing consistent,



timely and accurate administrative support to regional locations and staff.

The position is based at the Melbourne Justice Service Centre. However, it is an expectation of the role that the successful applicant is willing to support at other locations across the West Metro (Werribee, Melton and Sunshine). A driver's license is therefore preferred but not essential.

Please note that Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at level.

Some of your duties may include:

- Accountabilities differ depending on the work location.
- Provide a range of high quality and productive front of house administrative services, such as Consumer Affairs or Births, Deaths and Marriages enquiries and applications, and other services relevant to the location.
- Provide information and assistance to clients, internal and external stakeholders and the public including the collation, review and processing of applications.
- Provide reception and telephone responses for the location.
