The LOTE Agency provides inclusive integrated communications, research and community engagement services that cater to all Australians regardless of cultural or linguistic differences.
Over the past three years, we have grown from seven Melbourne-based staff to 34 staff located around Australia and Southeast Asia. In addition to our 34 full-time employees, we also engage over 850 translators and over 20 consultants. Our core team is extremely diverse, speaking over 30 languages, and they are considered our most valuable asset. Our clients include state and federal government departments, NFPs, utilities, elite sports organisations and blue chip corporations.
This new role will be focused on developing a passionate leadership group, driving business efficiencies through building and improving processes, nurturing our authentic, purpose-driven culture and providing operational support to the CEO.
This is an exciting role that will enable the right person to put their outstanding organisational and leadership skills to work and make the role their own. The successful candidate will collaborate with our experienced staff to support the delivery of inclusive public relations campaigns, provide excellent account management direction & support, and continuously improve our customer service and project management capability. They will take ownership of and refine our quality assurance and best practice procedures, support HR in recruitment & retention, identify & improve internal efficiencies and build profitable cash flow throughout the agency.
You will manage the operational leadership group of four across the departments of; Client Services,
Creative & Production, Research, and Community Engagement. The Sales and Marketing teams will remain under the control of the CEO . Your leadership team is located mostly in Melbourne, with one manager located in Sydney and one in New Zealand. The current working model is a hybrid of working from home and from our offices; HQ in Melbourne, and co-working offices in Perth, Sydney & Brisbane.
You will be naturally curious and with a sharp mind while possessing a genuine interest in diversity, equity and inclusion. You will also be experienced in managing the mental health and well-being of a passionate and loyal team. You may also have a love of dogs (or any animal really!).
You will share an EA with the CEO .
The Operations Manager will possess a growth mindset and leadership attributes to:
- Successfully develop, motivate and manage their team while relying on the OKR methodology
- Support the Client Services Team to engage and build strong client relationships
- Develop and implement service delivery excellence initiatives company-wide
- Improve profit margin by drawing on a strong continuous improvement mindset
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and supporting our emotionally intelligent team culture that is collaborative, creative, community & client-focused, and performance-driven
- Overseeing daily business and financial operations including full P&L; responsibility
- Supporting the Head of Client Services to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Providing feedback to the sales team through regular profit tracking
- Developing and implementing professional growth strategies for each business team
- Formulating and owning policies & procedures
- Recruiting and retaining talent with support from a HR generalist
- Delivering team mentoring and development opportunities specifically for the leadership group
- Identifying and delivering training opportunities for all staff
- Ensuring all team members have the appropriate hardware and equipment needed to complete their roles
- Enhancing efficiencies and processes for increased staff productivity
- Control operational expenditure and be responsible for overall profitability
- Generating reports and analysis
- Ongoing support and reporting to, the CEO and Owner
Experience / skills required:
- A combined 7+ years of management experience in communications, PR or community engagement agencies will be highly regarded
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Emotionally intelligent leadership style with experience leading a culturally diverse, multi-disciplinary team
- A genuine approach to work-life balance with demonstrated experience in managing mental health and well-being initiatives
- High technology competence with proven experience in cloud-based software and integrations
- Financial acumen; P&L;/Balance sheet literacy, preparing and analysing financial reports, experience using Xero accounting software preferable
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to work with multiple and diverse senior leaders across the company
- Strong time and priority management skills
