The Programs Officer is a key member of the Programs Team and will be responsible for assisting with the delivery and monitoring of various programs.

The position assists with various portfolio responsibilities including pre-release and orientation programs. The Programs Officer will be committed to assisting prisoners with day-to-day welfare needs in a manner which reflects the cultural diversity needs and issues of the prisoner.

The role will involve a number of administration duties, scheduling, program research and data collection, group facilitation and prisoner contact. This vacancy may offer the opportunity to be involved in regional projects in accordance with this position.

Some of your duties may include:

- As part of the Program's Team and under direction, deliver a range of support services and programs, including facilitating the Prison's Intake & Orientation Program.
- Act as a key point of contact for prisoners and staff in relation to prisoner welfare and program matters.
- Assist eligible prisoners to access recommended programs and activities including the Disability Pathway Program, Chaplaincy services, recreational programs and equipment, off-station community-based programs and Corrections Victoria approved multi-faith events/functions.
- Provide advice and support to custodial staff in relation to the management of prisoners including their involvement and referral to prison programs.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will be able to demonstrate

- Experience or understanding of working within a correctional environment.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Experience in working in a diverse environment driven by needs and focused outcomes would be necessary.
- Experience in delivering services within an energetic environment, meeting relevant timeliness standards would be an advantage.
- A Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment would be an advantage but not essential.
- A background in service delivery (welfare), employment or housing would be an advantage.
