QAIHC is a non-partisan peak organisation representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ATSICCHOs) across Queensland at both state and national levels. Our members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities.
QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and well-being experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland and through the development of evidence based, practical public policy solutions.
QAIHC has three main business divisions:
Sector Development;
Policy, Advocacy, Leadership and Strategy; and
Corporate Services.
Position Overview
The Receptionist is responsible for attending to all visitors and dealing with initial enquiries on the telephone and face to face. The position is also responsible for providing clerical and administrative support in order to ensure that services internally and externally are provided in an effective and efficient manner.
This position works closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders and requires exceptional cultural competency.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be required to:
- Provide receptionist services including,
- Customer facing front desk, greet all visitors
- Receive, direct and relay telephone messages and enquiries
- Maintain internal staff phone list
- Daily mail distribution
- Arrange all courier deliveries
- Maintain mail registers
- Provide general administrative support to QAIHC staff including, photocopying, compilation of materials/folders and preparation for conferences.
- Perform general word processing duties including typing letters, agendas, minutes and reports as required.
- Assist with arranging meeting venues, conferences, catering as required.
- Assist with travel and accommodation bookings and payments.
- Maintain office inventory of office supplies, and general purchase requirements.
- Maintain the general filing system and register.
- Other duties as directed.

- Solid administration skills with competence in Microsoft suites;
- Good telephone and customer service skills;
- Punctual with attention to detail;
- Good relationship skills and a positive demeanour.
Pre-requisite Skills & Experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with all clients and staff at QAIHC;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to listen attentively and seek to understand others’ needs by asking questions and clarifying;
- Have attention to detail;
- Demonstrated experience in handling a wide range of administrative and support related tasks, with the ability to work proactively;
- Current, unrestricted C class driver licence is desirable.
