Please note: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PPA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Transport and Planning. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.
The Senior Spatial Analyst provides high quality mapping products and services to the Minister for Planning and the Victorian Community. The Senior Spatial Analyst is responsible for supporting and producing mapping products to staff undertaking Planning Scheme Amendments, Cadastre Alignment, hazard mapping and other priority land use planning and building policy projects. Additionally, they are required to manage and enhance automated mapping services offered by the group.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Mandatory
- Sound understanding of the ArcGIS Framework (specifically ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online)
Desirable
- A relevant qualification in Spatial, Computer Science or Urban Planning.
- A sound understanding of the Vicmap Foundational datasets
- Experience using Python, FME or JavaScript including the use of scripts to solve spatial problems.
- Proven ability to query, report and analyse data in enterprise databases and create automated workflows and processes
Highly Regarded
- Experience working with 3D spatial technologies.
- Familiar with web mapping platforms, including Geocortex and Web App Builder for ArcGIS.
- An understanding of the Planning / Urban Planning domain
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne.
