TEMPORARY (MATERNITY LEAVE) GENERAL SOCIAL WORK POSITION

Hunter Valley Private Hospital

Hours per Fortnight:64hous

Contracted Period:until 3/7/2023 with possibility of ongoing work on completion.

Location: Shortland, Newcastle, NSW

About the Service:HVPH is a busy 83 bed private hospital that provides care to inpatient Rehabilitation, Medical and Surgical patients, as well as providing Day Surgery and Outpatient Rehabilitation services.

About the Position:As the Social Worker, you will be required to work with inpatients and outpatients from the Rehab, Medical and Surgical Units to provide professional social work service. The service provides a high quality, evidence-based clinical service consisting of assessment, care co-ordination, intervention, liaison, advocacy and review for patients and their family / carers referred to the service. The caseloads are varied and can include neurological, orthopaedics, amputee, chronic illness, geriatric and palliative care.

The available position offers a Social Worker the chance to be part of a friendly multidisciplinary team and work within the Social Work team.

Essential Criteria

An approved Degree in Social Work that includes eligibility for membership with the AASW;

Police and Working with Children Checks;





Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences;

Demonstrated conflict resolution skills;

Ability to prioritise caseload and work within timeframes;

Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team;

Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous improvement;

Knowledge on a variety of health related conditions;

Ensure patient/consumer care is delivered within professional, organisational, legal and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence based, best practice knowledge;

Knowledge of local community support services;

Knowledge of aged care services
Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Desirable Criteria:

Hospital experience;

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage both clinical workload and administrative duties;
