The Royal Melbourne Hospital Transit Lounge is seeking a suitably experienced Ward Clerk for an ongoing part time position on Saturdays.
The Transit Lounge is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7:30 pm and 8 am to 4:30 pm on Saturdays and provides care for patients being discharged from inpatient beds, patients awaiting admission from outpatient clinics and patients awaiting transport.
Your Opportunity
The role of the Transit Lounge Ward Clerk is to deliver a professional and caring customer focused service, often as the first point of contact and communication for patients, their families, visitors and patient transport providers.
Under the direction of the Transit Lounge Asocial Nurse Unit Manager, the Ward Clerk is responsible for the clerical and receptionist duties of the department, coordinating the physical and telecommunication traffic throughout the area, welcome and identification of patients entering the area, maintenance and security of all relevant databases, accurate data entry into patient records and database, accurate admission, discharge and transfer of patients into the patient administration system and coordinator of transport bookings across the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
This position entails liaising with nursing, medical and ancillary staff, hospital departments, patients and their significant others and the public. If you enjoy a fast-paced work environment and possess outstanding interpersonal, communication and time management skills, then this might be the role for you.

- You have relevant clerical experience and administrative skills including IT skills and qualified telephone manner.
- You are highly motivated with a willingness to learn.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You demonstrate a high level of reliability and professional conduct.
