Are you a Carpenter that loves fishing, camping and wanting to explore remote parts of the Northern Territory? Then this is the job for you.

Thamarrurr Development Corporation (TDC) located in Wadeye are seeking qualified carpenters to join our Housing & Construction team.

We are a Not-for-Profit, registered charitable organisation, owned by members of the Wangka, Tjanpa and Lirga peoples. The Wadeye Community, (formerly Pt Keats) NT, is located in the Western Daly River region – an area rich in cultures, wildlife and ecosystems. Wadeye is the Territory's 6th most populous towns and one of Australia's largest remote indigenous communities.

Providing safe, reliable, consistent and high-quality carpentry services to the Wadeye community and surrounding areas, you’ll also be providing on-the-job training and mentoring to local Indigenous trade assistants and apprentices when required.

Key Focus Areas:

- Carpentry maintenance and installations
- Implementation and maintenance of safe WHS work practices
- Attention to detail of directions, work orders and construction plans
- Reporting i.e. progress updates, detailed completion of job cards
- Training, mentoring and supervising indigenous trades assistants

To be successful you’ll have:

- Resilience, cheerfulness, attention to detail and a willing “can do’ attitude,
- Sound organisational and time management skills,




- Ability to display initiative, problem solve, make decisions and work with limited supervision,
- Sound communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills,
- Intermediate to high level of mathematical skills
- The ability to work and deal sensitively with Indigenous members of the community,
- Australian or New Zealand residency or citizenship status.

Job Specific Criterion

- Minimum Cert III in Carpentry,
- NT Construction Card (white card)
- Knowledge of applicable and safety code requirements,
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations and policies
- Minimum C Class Drivers Licence,
- Possess a high level of physical ability and fitness
