Summery.
Responsible for the management of structural engineering and development of the floating foundation design.
The role is also expected to provide support to the wider portfolio of Employee's execution phase projects with regards to floating foundation engineering and development of specifications.
Job Description.
To manage the structural engineering of floating foundation during FEED and Detailed Design Phases.
Overall technical and structural engineering compliance
Foundation certification management.
Management of External Design Consultant to ensure delivery of the Design Statement of Conformity.
Development of design risk management strategy to manage design risk during critical procurement stages.
Ensuring ALARP design principles are applied by the Foundation Designer and attending HAZIDs, HAZOPs and ROC Drills.
Provide Foundation Package Team with weekly design updates and forecasts for completion.
Support the general development and qualification of offshore floating wind foundation design to improve efficiency and planning on future projects.
Assist in regular progress reporting and provide regular technical commentary of critical risks.
Attend audits of fabrication facilities to support the development of the foundation supply chain.
Support in developing the surveillance strategy required during execution to achieve full prototype certification of the floating foundation.
Align technical interface with other packages
Ensure design & quality standards are meet
Key tasks
Develop an effective working relationship with the external Foundation Design Team and other key stakeholders.
Support the commercialisation of floating wind on future projects.
Develop and actively manage the design risk management strategy in conjunction with the Foundation Package Manager.
Assist in the development of scope and specification documentation for fabrication and assembly in future execution contracts.
Provide regular progress updates on foundation design to the EPC and package teams.
Manage document reviews and coordinate reviews by contractors and other 3rd parties to provide comprehensive comments on design through all key stages of the project lifecycle and to ensure delivery of a safe and efficient foundation design.
Develop Condition Monitoring and Digital Twin strategies for the prototype foundation and manage long term data monitoring and reporting.
Develop corrosion protection strategy with the foundation design team and develop fabrication and testing specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements.
Manage Site Conditions Assessments, support engineering team on geotechnical and geophysical scopes and manage Integrated Loads Analysis with OEMs.
Provide input to selection of floating foundation concepts on future concepts.
Experience And Education
- At least 10 years' experience in offshore foundation engineering.
- Degree qualified in structural, civil or mechanical engineering.
- Detailed understanding of offshore wind foundation design processes.
- Experience of certification of Offshore Foundations.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively.
- Preferably background experience as structural engineer.
