About the role
Atlas Iron is currently undertaking a Magnetite Feasibility Study. Reporting into the Project Manager the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for a range of study development activities including management of various packages including engineering services consultants, metallurgical testwork and hydrogeology. The role will include close collaboration and management of engineering service providers developing the FS design.
The role supports the project lead in ensuring project deliverables meet quality requirements, are aligned with agreed expectations, meet corporate and statutory requirements, and adhere to Atlas procedures, work practices and plans.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Manage/oversee end to end project work including initiation, execution, control and close activities, using agreed project management processes, tools and techniques
- Author project engineering documentation – management plans, scopes of work/services, tenders/assessments,
study reports, progress reporting
- Provide project engineering support to the project lead and other internal departments
- Manage external consultants, contractors and vendors in the delivery of agreed outputs
- Provide progress reports and advice on issues arising to the GM Projects and project leads
- Achieve technically sound, risk-based design and engineering for projects to assure sound planning basis for construction and development
- Monitor adherence to schedules and budget, initiating and implementing corrective action when required
- Assist with resolving major project conflicts that may impact on the project performance
About you
You will be a dynamic, self-starter with plenty of enthusiasm and align with our Values of Excellence, Resilience, Agility, Integrity and Win-Win. You will be an individual who can think outside the box, have an eye for detail with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a technical role or project delivery role in the resource / infrastructure industry. Mechanical or Process Engineering background preferred.
- Experienced in Magnetite, iron ore, or wet processing plants in design and/or operations.
- Experienced with project package management - developing scopes of work/services, contract documentation/management,
consultant/contractor/vendor RFQ/tendering/assessments, RFA’s, site-based construction management, and associated procurement contract management processes (eg project change/contract variation management)
- Highly experienced with authoring project engineering documentation – management plans, scopes of work/services, tenders/assessments, study reports, progress reporting
- Experienced with development and management of engineering consultants design and documentation packages
- Experienced with supporting project schedule and cost estimate (CAPEX and OPEX) development, and associated control/remediation mechanisms
- Good understanding of MS Office Suite, MS Project (and/or Primavera P6), MS Visio, other relevant software
- Track record of successfully delivering on team and personal KPIs
