Senior OCS Engineer - Metrotrains

Location: Melbourne, VIC

The Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) is a transformational public transport project that will bring more trains to your suburb and reduce travel times by running the busy Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines through a new tunnel. By untangling the City Loop, more trains can run more often across Melbourne.

We've finished digging twin 9km tunnels, and construction is underway on 5 current stations and testing of the new High Capacity Signalling system that will enable turn-up-and-go services.

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior OCS Engineer to join the MTP Team.

The Role

The Senior OCS Engineer is responsible for the designing, commissioning and testing of the system infrastructure required to support critical systems such as CCTV, Industrial Control and Passenger Information.

The position is responsible for providing technical support and assistance with the delivery of network and system infrastructure, and other related activities across the system delivery scope.

This role is a fulltime, 2-year contract based in Melbourne's CBD.

Responsibilities

- Assist with the planning, scheduling, development and coordination of the delivery of all project infrastructure and subsequent testing activities for the Systems being delivered and modified as part of the Project.
- Liaise with technical teams within the Engineering and Delivery functions regarding the selection, set-up and configuration of appropriate hardware, software and OS environments (including virtual), carry out integration tasks, as well as complex problem resolution.
- Be responsible for System and Network Configuration and Administration, including diagnostics and trouble-shooting.
- Develop,



manage delivery and review progress against plans to ensure they are on schedule and take effective remedial action as required.
- Adhere to the relevant management plans and engineering frameworks that govern the Project delivery and reporting requirements.
- Engage key stakeholders across the alliance teams and broader Project organisation ensuring that beneficial relationships are developed and maintained and contribute to an overall successful outcome for the Project.

About You

- Tertiary qualification in applicable technical field or relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated experience with applicable network protocols (BGP, OSPF, RSTP, VRRP)
- Demonstrated experience with applicable system protocols (DNS, NTP, TCP)
- Demonstrated experience with stateful security devices such as firewalls.
- Demonstrated experience with VMWare
- Demonstrated experience with both Windows and Linux server environments
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge and experience in the technologies and systems used with SCADA, Industrial Control, and Automation Systems
- Relevant industry experience in Transport, Energy, Mining or similar.
- Sound analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
