About the Opportunity

Council is currently looking for a Sporting Fields Assistant to join its Parks and Gardens team.

In this role you will maintain and develop the Parkes Shire's sports grounds and facilities. You will operate and maintain a variety of small plant and equipment and undertake a variety of other activities within the Sporting Fields and broader Parks and Gardens team.

Remuneration and Benefits

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.

The role has been evaluated as being within Grade 5 of Council's salary structure and offers a starting hourly rate of $26.15 per hour (plus 10.5% superannuation), with commencing salary to be determined upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.

About You

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. The nature of this position may require you to start work early and/or finish work late as work activities may be undertaken at outlying locations within the Shire.

To be successful in this position you will need:

- Current and maintained NSW Driver’s Licence
- SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
- Work experience in the operation of small plant and equipment
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)

It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:

- Previous work experience in a similar role
- Plant Operator Certificates
- MR Truck Licence or higher
- Good standard of IT literacy
- Understanding of sporting field maintenance and requirements
- Knowledge of the role, functions and responsibilities of Local Government
