We are currently looking for an experienced Vegetation Assessor to join our Broadmeadows team.

About the role:

The Vegetation & Easement assessor will be responsible for collecting data relating to vegetation clearances around electrical assets in the Jemena Electricity Network (JEN). The data collected is critical to informing annual tree clearing and bushfire mitigation programs.

Some of the duties are listed below but not limited to:

- Conduct timely and accurate assessments of vegetation adjacent to the JEN Network in accordance with Bushfire Mitigation and company policy requirements
- Routine and emergency patrols of lines and easements gathering vegetation and asset data
- Communicate and negotiate with landowners for vegetation and easement management activities
- Undertake minor environmental works using hand tools, herbicide application equipment and chainsaws
- Basic Hazardous Tree Assessments utilising the Visual Tree Assessment method.
- Local & rural travel is required for this role

About you:

The successful candidate will have:

- Proven technical expertise in Arboriculture




- Experience in tree assessment - highly desirable
- Knowledge & exposure working within the vicinity of the electrical Distribution &/ Transmission systems
- Data entry skills and experience with data entry devices
- Ability to work in an environment that requires some local decision making in relation to work being undertaken and negotiations with other stakeholders.
- Clear and precise verbal & written communicate skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
- Enjoys working outside with the ability to work with minimal supervision and still show necessary initiative
- Operational exposure to OH&S; policies, procedures and systems

You will require the following qualifications:

- Formal qualification in Arboriculture is essential
- Qualification in the electrical Distribution &/ Transmission system – highly desirable
- Valid Drivers Licence
