Where you'll be working
Goulburn Base Hospital is a Level 4 facility at the role delineation in NSW Health.
The Clinical Services Building which opened in **** has three operational theatres with a range of elective and emergency surgery performed.
Currently this includes General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Oral Surgery.
What you'll be doing
Provide on-site clinical, educational and pastoral leadership for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) employed at Goulburn Base Hospital.
Ensure a high quality, safe and sustainable education, supervision and support program for IMGs that meets Australian Medical Council (AMC) standards, NSW Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) requirements, and the supervision requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Medical Board of Australia.
Facilitate longitudinal oversight, advocacy and support of IMGs throughout their placement, with a regular, predictable on-site presence to deliver direct supervision, structured education, orientation and individualised pastoral and welfare support.
The IMG Medical Education and Support Project Officer is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the program, while the JMO Coordinator manages leave applications and supports orientation and related administration.
The role is delivered at 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week) and reports to the Director of Medical Services, Goulburn Base Hospital.

Selection Criteria:
Senior medical practitioner with current specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and Fellowship of a recognised specialist medical College,
and a practising clinical appointment (or eligibility for appointment), as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Demonstrated experience and interest in postgraduate medical education, supervision and training, including the supervision and support of International Medical Graduates, with a willingness to develop further expertise.
Demonstrated understanding of the Medical Board and HETI requirements for the supervision, training and support of JMOs, and of the challenges faced by IMGs entering the Australian health system.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective pastoral care, welfare support and advocacy, with high-level interpersonal, communication and cross-cultural skills.
Demonstrated commitment to improving the quality of medical education and training offered by the hospital, including evidence of commitment to HETI's vision and strategic priorities.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and to maintain a regular on-site presence at Goulburn Base Hospital within a 0.2 FTE allocation.
Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain.
Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires.
This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

All current employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy.
OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
