The role
As a Research Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting Type 1 diabetes clinical trials within the Translational Diabetes and Metabolism Lab at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
You will provide direct participant care, conduct clinical assessments, and ensure protocol adherence to support safe and high‐quality research outcomes.
The role is primary covering overnight shifts, but there is the option for occasional day shifts to support the needs of the clinical trial.
You will be responsible for accurate data collection, participant monitoring,



and responding to any clinical concerns in collaboration with the on‐call medical team.
This role involves close coordination with investigators, study coordinators, laboratory staff, and St Vincent's Private Hospital nursing teams to ensure smooth study operations.

Providing high‐quality overnight monitoring and clinical care for Type 1 diabetes research participantsImplementing study protocols in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ethics approvals, and institutional policiesConducting overnight clinical assessments, including vital signs, blood glucose checks, IV cannulation, blood sampling, centrifuging samples, and symptom monitoringAdministering investigational products or study medications according to protocolAccurately documenting and maintaining research data and source notesMonitoring for adverse events and escalating concerns appropriatelyResponding to clinical emergencies in collaboration with on‐call medical staffSupporting participant comfort, privacy, informed consent, and providing reassurance during overnight staysLiaising with investigators, coordinators, laboratory teams, and ward nurses to ensure smooth study deliveryParticipating in effective handover between day and night research teams
