We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacist to join our Clinical Services team on a full-time basis for a 6 or 12-month contract position working to provide pharmaceutical care and medication management services to Mater Hospitals in South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland.

Mater Health Services, South East Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals at South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland caring for over 500,000 patients each year. Mater Pharmacy provides a clinical service to all inpatient areas and some outpatient clinics, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.

What you'll be doing

You will work closely with hospital staff and patients to deliver a consistently high level of clinical pharmacy service by providing customers, patients, carers and other health professionals with support and information relating to medication and medication safety practices. This includes but is not limited to:

- Compiling and documenting best possible medication history for hospital inpatients
- Reconciliation and clinical review of prescribed medications
- Managing supply of inpatient and discharge medications for hospital patients and some outpatients
- Preparation of discharge medication and discharge medication information
- Checking prepared medications prior to delivery to wards and patients
- Medication education and counselling for patients and their carers
- Liaison with external facilities and community health care providers to ensure continuity of care for individual patients
- Providing medication related information,



advice and support to the multidisciplinary team.

This is a rotational position working across public and private inpatient areas including general medical, surgical and obstetric wards as well as the inpatient dispensary which manages medication distribution and services procedural areas, Hospital in the Home and the Mater Infusion Clinic. Depending on your experience and interest, opportunities exist to develop clinical pharmacy skills and expertise within a range of clinical specialties:

- oncology and haematology
- obstetrics and gynaecology
- special care and neonatal intensive care
- paediatrics and adolescent health
- adult intensive care
- coronary care and interventional cardiology

The central dispensary also provides an extended hours service for all our hospitals so the role will require you to be available to work weekdays as well as sharing the evening, public holiday and weekend rosters.

Mater Pharmacy is dedicated to the exceptional care and service of all our patients and customers. We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service and strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism in all our services. In addition to clinical pharmacy services, we provide traditional community pharmacy medicines and retail products to patients, visitors and staff.

Salary range: $34.33 - $50.33 per hour (Health Practitioner Level 3) plus superannuation as per Mater Health Practitioners’ Enterprise Agreement 2019 – 2021.

About you

To be considered for this role you must have:

- Bachelor of Pharmacy
- APHRA registration to practice as a Pharmacist (without restrictions)
- The flexibility to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Prior demonstrated experience in ward-based clinical pharmacy will be highly regarded




- The ability to work at all Mater Hospital locations including South Brisbane, Redland and Springfield will be highly regarded
