- Base salary range: Level 5/6 $73,982 – $89,477 p.a. (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The Resilient Landscapes Hub is one of four research Hubs under the Australian Government’s National Environmental Research Program. The Hub provides research to inform management of Australia’s terrestrial and freshwater habitats to promote resilience, sustainability and productive practices. The Resilient Landscapes Hub delivers applied research to support management of Australia’s terrestrial and freshwater habitats, including a focus on bushfire recovery, feral animals and invasive species impacts, and accessible science to assist land managers develop and maintain resilient, sustainable and productive landscapes. The Hub has a budget of $47 million over 6 years. The Hub includes researchers from 14 universities, the CSIRO and state government research agencies.

About the opportunity

You will support adoption of knowledge gained by the NESP Resilient Landscapes Hub to improve decision making about the management of Australia’s natural resources. You will develop and coordinate communication products and activities associated with the Hub and to be a key writer of content about Hub research.





You will also develop and write content for scientific communication materials, including plain language summaries of research findings, brochures, media releases, eNews stories and website content. You will also be responsible for developing video materials and managing the Hub’s website and social media channels. Maintaining contacts with project partners and key media personnel, along with the co-ordination of media activity and media releases, is essential. Other key duties include monitoring and reporting of communication outputs and effectiveness, organising events such as workshops and webinars, liaising with external contractors, and liaising with stakeholders including the Australian Government.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate :

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in science, natural resource management, scientific/technical communications, journalism, media, or a similar discipline
- Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level
- Ability to clearly and effectively translate scientific language into targeted communication products such as videos, fact sheets, newsletter stories, and content for online/social media channels
- Experience in production of videos and other communication products, preferably using Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email
- Demonstrated experience in content management systems, and in producing web content and maintaining websites. Proficiency in producing content for online/social media channels
- Experience in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders such as government agencies, industry bodies, Indigenous groups, environment organisations, community groups, research institutions and the media, including through organising workshops and other events
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills

Occasional in-state and interstate travel may be required.

A current C’C class drivers’ licence is required.
