Position Overview

The Director of Marist Centre works in collaboration with the Leader of Diverse Learning and the Inclusive Education team in supporting Marist Centre students by providing access to effective learning opportunities. In doing so, the Director of Marist Centre engages in a student-centred approach and develops specific learning using both the achievement standards and capabilities from the Australian Curriculum, MITIOG, the Child Protection Curriculum and the modified SACE for secondary students. The Director of Marist Centre also oversees the development of Marist Centre core subjects including numeracy, literacy, personal health, work education and life skills. In this role, the Director of Marist Centre will lead the Assistant Director of Marist Centre, and Marist Centre team of staff, and work closely with students, families, other College staff and external providers to ensure that the individual needs of every student are met through a student-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities

- Leadership: Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning, manage complex cases, lead NCCD reviews, oversee Risk Assessments and Positive Behaviour Plans, and coordinate camps and excursions.
- Case Management: Develop personalised learning plans for each student, assess their educational needs, coordinates curriculum with staff, ensure documentation is updated on SEQTA, and conduct biannual student-parent-teacher interviews/review meetings.
- Teaching & Learning: Promote and inspire teaching of Diverse Learning within the Marist Centre aligned with the Australian Curriculum, lead the team in managing inclusive learning programs, monitor student progress, support curriculum development, and foster staff professional learning in Inclusive Education.

About You

- Current Teacher Registration in South Australia and relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience.
- Teacher Accreditation in Catholic Education SA.
- Active support for the Catholic ethos and the College Mission and Values.




- Significant and relevant experience of and commitment to development and formation of staff.
- Significant experience in the strategic staff development and frameworks to achieve high quality teaching that supports learning environments and learning outcomes.
- Exceptional teaching and learning practices relevant to secondary schooling in a co-educational setting.
- Proven ability to build relationships between students, parents/caregivers and staff.
- Ability to translate vision into action and inspire, engage and lead others in an cutting-edge manner.
- High-level organisational skills with demonstrated ability to plan strategically, problem solve, prioritise, work to deadlines to achieve quality outcomes, give attention to detail and relate tasks/actions to a wider strategic improvement context.
- High-level written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills with demonstrated capacity to cooperate and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Active support for the Catholic ethos and the College's Mission and Values.
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Working With Children Clearance - or be willing to obtain
- Catholic Police Clearance - or be willing to obtain
- Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect – Education and Care certificate - or be willing to obtain
