About the Maternity Leave Role (6 month contract)
The Homestay Coordinator is responsible for managing the homestay program at BROWNS English Language School in the Gold Coast. This role involves ensuring that students are placed in safe and welcoming home environments, coordinating with host families, and providing support to both students and families for a positive homestay experience in the Gold Coast. The role also includes managing student residences in conjunction with accommodation providers and overseeing BROWNS' residences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Host Family Recruitment and Management:
- Recruit and assess potential host families within the Gold Coast area to ensure they meet the school's standards for safety, comfort, and cultural enrichment.
- Conduct home visits and evaluations to verify compliance with BROWNS' homestay policies and requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with host families through regular communication and support.
- Student Placement:
- Match students with suitable host families based on individual needs, preferences, and cultural compatibility.
- Coordinate pre-arrival and orientation information for both students and host families to ensure smooth transitions.
- Residence Management:
- Collaborate with accommodation providers to manage student residences,
ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
- Oversee BROWNS' residences, coordinating maintenance, logistics, and student placement, as well as day to day support ensuring that the residences are maintained to a high standard.
- Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to student accommodations, ensuring a positive living environment.
- Program Coordination:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the homestay program to ensure high-quality experiences.
- Organize and conduct orientation sessions for students and host families to communicate expectations and responsibilities.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise between students and host families, providing mediation and support as needed.
- Administration and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of host families, student placements, and program activities.
- Prepare reports on program performance, student feedback, and host family evaluations.
- Ensure all necessary documentation, including contracts and agreements, is completed and filed appropriately.
- Teamwork and Communication:
- Foster effective teamwork and communication with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, to enhance program delivery.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure alignment with the school's overall objectives and initiatives.
- Engage with external partners,
including community organisations and other educational institutions, to promote and support the homestay program.
- Support and Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students and host families, offering guidance and support throughout the homestay experience.
- Facilitate cultural exchange activities and events to enhance the homestay experience and promote cross-cultural understanding in Brisbane.
- On a rotational basis, take the emergency phone and respond to all emergency phones when rostered on.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational or international student context.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to conduct home visits within the Gold Coast area.
Desirable Attributes:
- This role requires occasional evening or weekend work to meet the needs of students and host families.
- The position involves regular travel within the Gold Coast for home visits
