St Pius X College is a Catholic Independent Years 5 – 12 boys’ school in the Edmund Rice Tradition and is dedicated to developing critical and creative thinkers who are resilient and passionate about learning. St Pius X College is seeking to appoint an energetic Leader of Learning - Junior School skilled in contemporary education practices for either Year 5 or Year 6. The Leader of Learning - Junior School is a pre-eminent teacher in the Junior School who pursues and leads excellence in teaching and learning, including content knowledge, teaching methodology, classroom management, assessment, reporting and professional development. The successful applicant will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a dynamic environment. Involvement in the cocurricular life of the College is an essential condition of employment. This position commences in 2025.
Conditions of Employment
Full time permanent position
• 1 point Coordinator, 0.1 time release
• Initial two-year appointment and following satisfactory performance review, further three-year appointment
• Reporting to the Head of Junior School
The successful applicant will
- Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School;
• Be supportive of the Edmund Rice ethos of the College;
• Be characterised by a high standard of competency, professionalism, organisational proficiency and enthusiasm;
• Have an ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys’ education issues and initiatives;
• Provide leadership in Year 5 or 6 teaching, learning and assessment;
• Facilitate appropriate assessment, recording and reporting procedures;
• Provide Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing through managing and leading student wellbeing across the grade and manage minor pastoral care student issues;
• Lead Academic Care Team meetings
• Be an cutting-edge and engaging classroom practitioner;
• Effectively integrate technology in teaching and learning;
• Differentiate the curriculum to suit the student needs;
• Participate in the cocurricular program of the college.
