Position Details:

We have two exciting opportunities for passionate and enthusiastic educators to join John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS) for the commencement of 2025 in the following areas:

Mathematics/Science Secondary Teacher

Our Secondary School is in search of a qualified educator to teach Mathematics and Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the curriculum for both subjects, primarily focusing on Mathematics while also teaching Science. This is an ongoing, full-time role requiring a commitment of 1.0 FTE. Proficiency in teaching ATAR Mathematics or Science is desirable. Applications are welcomed from both newly qualified educators and experienced professionals.

Science Secondary Teacher

This is an ongoing, full time (1.0 FTE) position. The successful candidate will be tasked with delivering the Science curriculum to Year 8 - 12 classes. The ability to teach Senior classes is preferred, and expertise in Physics, Chemistry or Psychology is highly desirable. This role offers a fantastic chance to become part of a collaborative and committed Science team. Both graduate and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.

Science at JWACS

Science at JWACS is a flourishing learning area with myriad opportunities for students of all abilities. Astronomy nights, Remote Pilots Licence (RePL) drone training course certified by the Civil Aviation Authority and Science Extension electives are but some of our STEM opportunities.

FIRST® LEGO® League

One of our STEM initiatives is our involvement in the FIRST® LEGO® League. Our Science students have won some of the top “Innovation” and “Robot Building” awards at regional competitions with five of our teams having progressed to the National Championships over the past three years. Our team "Crashers" won the National Championships - WEST competition held at Curtin University in December 2022. They represented Australia at the FIRST® Lego® League World Championships which were held in Houston, USA in April 2023.

Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate must:

- Understand and support the Mission, Vision and Ethos and Core Values of The Anglican Schools Commission and John Wollaston Anglican Community School (the School).
- Actively support a child safe culture.
- Have a sound understanding of the content and structure of the curriculum, contemporary learning theory and appropriate means of monitoring and assessing student achievement.
- Have teaching experience in educational contexts which support students who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
- Demonstrate skills in curriculum differentiation and modification of learning tasks to meet specific educational needs.
- Be able to enthuse students and to develop in them a love and appreciation of learning.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the teaching, learning,



assessment and reporting cycle using digital platforms, such as SEQTA.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills appropriate to planning and coordinating a range of teaching programs, including strong written and verbal communication skills and effective time management.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills being inclusive, collaborative, approachable, a good listener and having the capacity to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, parents and carers.

Essential Requirements:

- Bachelor of Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education in the related field.
- Be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Hold a current Working with Children Card.
