Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Grade 1 Scientist to join our Microbiology Department. The role will primarily require working on afternoon shift (either 13:30 - 22:00 or 15:00 - 23:30) with an availability to participate in overnight on-call, weekday and weekend (day), public holiday and overnight shifts as required. This position is suitable for a candidate with relevant experience in a microbiology laboratory performing/interpreting microscopy (CSF and fluid cell counts, synovial fluid preparations, fungal and faecal wet preparations, IH stains and Gram stains) from specimens processed for routine microbiology.



Experience with use of use of various automation is also expected and experience in culture reading/follow-up and susceptibility testing will be highly regarded.

This is backfill for a Grade 1 Scientist position in Microbiology, full time, fixed-term position up to 03 January 2024. To be successful in this role you must demonstrate key responsibilities as outlined in the Position Description.
