Overview of the Role

We are seeking a Grade 2 Social worker at The Melbourne Clinic, Richmond, Victoria. The role would see the successful applicant working across inpatient Living Well Programs providing group and individual therapy to clients. Experience and/or a solid interest in mental health and psychiatric disorders is preferred. The successful applicant would work within the general Living Well Program, primarily offering social work services, as well as group and individual based therapy to inpatients at The Melbourne Clinic. The successful applicant will also assist with supervision of staff and students and contribute to the further development of programs as appropriate.

As a Grade 2 Social Worker your responsibilities will include:

Providing social work services to people with a wide range of psychiatric and developmental conditions.

Completing thorough psychosocial assessments and providing intervention to patients and where appropriate to families and carers. Interventions will focus on discharge planning, making appropriate recommendations and providing feedback.

Developing and facilitating group therapy programs within the Living Well Program and across other programs as required. Topics will be dependent on successful applicant’s skill set and training.



Examples of current group topics include: CBT, ACT and DBT based skills, as well as psycho-education, mindfulness, relaxation, discharge planning and relationship skills.

Participating in the development and evaluation of policies and programs as appropriate.

Assisting where needed with staff supervision and supervision of students.

Attending relevant ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.

To be successful in this role you should possess:

Appropriate qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership in the AASW, with current membership in the AASW preferred.

Experience in delivering a diverse range of modalities is desirable

Exceptional organisation, time management and communication skills

Ability to work autonomously

Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Experience in group therapy facilitation preferred

Commitment to ongoing education and the provision of evidence based practice

Current Working with Children Check

All staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVI9 19 and Influenza and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status.
