Events include All Stars, International Club Tours & new format Future5. KEEPUP provides the digital infrastructure of the A-Leagues with the management of KU and 13 Clubs Web & App experience. The team maintains and constantly improves the underlying technology of APL and its Clubs.
The Opportunity;
Reporting into the Head of Engineering, as a Software Engineer, you will evangelise software engineering excellence both within your team and the wider tech community. We’re talking open-source contributions, giving tech talks, attending meetups, giving department-wide brown bags, and leading excellence-driving initiatives internally.
You will have a large impacton what we deliver, and be required to contribute and assist in driving the technical direction and architecture of your team’s output.
Being an experienced software engineer, you will constantly be re-learning your craft and building a set of software engineering principles. Working as part of a geographically distributed, multidisciplinary and agile team to deliver value early and often, you will work collaboratively and iteratively to incrementally improve the features and functionality of the product with each release.
We are looking for people who care about code quality, believe in Test Driven Development, and can demonstrate to their peers why it’s important. With demonstrable practise in SOLID principles, you are able to tell us what the SOLID principles mean to you and the impact they have had on the way you work. Focused on delivery, you’ll know when to be pragmatic to balance code quality with value delivery. You will have solid experience with CQS, encapsulation, SOLID, outside-in-TDD, triangulation, verification, characterisation tests, pairing, devil’s advocate, ping-pong, Gollum-style, red-green-refactor… If you’re genuinely excited right now, then so are we!
The Responsibilities
Working in an agile software engineering environment to deliver awesome features that will delight our fans and serve the league well.
Writing software in an iterative environment using continuous integration and continuous delivery.
Working in a collaborative environment to design, prove, document, engineer, test, deploy, scale and operate software.
Contributing technically to ensure design feasibility; approach; usability; architecture; code quality; testability; scalability; and performance.
Suggesting appropriate technologies, techniques and standards to help deliver our goals.
Actively participating in scrum ceremonies to help provide visibility and accountability towards delivery of projects you’re working on.
Supporting and developing other software engineers by providing advice, coaching, mentoring and educational opportunities.
Working to help ensure homogeneous code contributions from everyone on your team.
Assisting with driving the adoption of good practices across the department.
Updating job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques,
and technologies; participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organisations.
About You
You should be able to demonstrate the use of some of the below skills, preferably by referencing previous commercial experience:
– Analysing information
– Software design
– Software documentation
– Teamwork
– Full-stack software engineering
– Software engineering fundamentals
– Writing tested, maintainable code
– Software testing
– Test-driven development
– SOLID principles.
You will be well practised in the software development lifecycle, including:
– Backlog refinement
– Estimation

– Operating / monitoring; and
– Rolling back
