Job Description

At BlueScope we operate Australia's largest steel production facility in Port Kembla, NSW. As the Blast Furnace is an essential part of the steel manufacturing process, this is an exciting time to join our Coke and Ironmaking team ! Currently, the No.5 Blast Furnace nears the end of its service life, and the relining of the No.6 Blast Furnace is essential for ensuring the future of steelmaking in the Illawarra region. BlueScope is also dedicated to its decarbonisation strategy and 2050 net zero goal which are aligned with the life of the blast furnace campaign, this is expected to last up to 20 years!

The Blast Furnace is an integral part of our supply chain operations, and we are excited to grow our team – join our team as a Systems Controller . Working in a supportive environment, we will continuously develop you in the role. You will primarily work in a control room environment and assist in the production of our world-class products. This essential role works a 12-hour rotating day and night shift, 7 days a week.

What Will You Do?

With your hands-on approach and a keen interest to grow and develop yourself technically, you will:





- utilise your dedicated technical focus to investigate and resolve plant and process faults
- monitor and manage the processing plant and equipment to assist in the production of our high-quality products
- work collaboratively with managers and peers to improve the efficiency of the Blast Furnace
- assist with improving work and safety standards and environmental systems by developing new practices and procedures

More About You

You are passionate about improvement initiatives, problem-solving and sharing ideas with your team. You will also bring:

- qualifications

or experience in manufacturing, mining, gas, control operations, engineering, science, materials or metallurgy
- high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in an (at times) high pressure environment
- a continuous drive in improving procedures and process
- a willingness to undertake internal education in metallurgy will be advantageous. This will assist you to advance to the Process Controller role within the same department
