Would you like to work in a beautiful area of Northern New South Wales?
Due to growth, a rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a veterinarian to join a genuine 50:50 mixed practice. The current close-knit team consists of two full-time vets and one part-time vet.
The practice is looking for a vet with a minimum of 6 months experience. There is a mentoring program in place to ensure recent graduates receive as much support as they need. Vets at the practice have 55 years of experience between them, and the nurses have even more! The team love being able to help recent grads and vet students gain skills and confidence, and they also love learning from them!
The practice has a very low turn staff turnover, as they focus on providing a strong work/life balance in a friendly, family-based environment where each team member is valued.
The practice sees a genuine mix of animals and is roughly 50% small animals, 50% large animals. They see the usual companion animals, beef cattle, sheep, horses, alpacas, wildlife (5%) and a small amount of exotics (approx. 2%). There is scope to increase both the small animal and the large animal parts of the clinic, and as their new vet, you will be encouraged to pursue your interests.
There is a strong focus on creating an enjoyable place to work. Morning teas, one-hour lunch breaks and leaving work on time are all a priority. Consults are 20 minutes with an experienced nurse rostered to support you in consult.
This position would suit either a new grad or an experienced vet.
Ideally, the practice is looking for a full-time vet. However, they are flexible and happy to accept applications from those seeking part-time work. A full-time role involves a four-day working week with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings.
In addition to a generous salary, vets will also be provided with a clinic vehicle for work and personal use. The annual continuing education allowance is $1,500, and the practice will invest in your personal and professional development through Lincoln Institute's 'Leading Edge' program.
The after-hours work is shared with a neighbouring practice and are minimal. There would be 1 in 5 weekends and one weeknight a week. Most weeknights, there are no after-hours calls and an average of 3 to 5 callouts over an entire weekend. Due to the phone set-up, most phone calls they receive are genuine emergencies rather than queries, and the clients are extremely appreciative and respectful of your time after-hours.
The clinic is well-equipped with the usual toys: IDEXX lab equipment, dental x-ray, ultrasound, tonopen, DCP and locking plate orthopaedic gear, TTA, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, cold laser, cattle ultrasound, semen testing gear, dental power float, portable horse crush etc. Plans are underway for a new purpose-built clinic as the team has outgrown their current building.
The clinic is located in a beautiful, supportive community. There is a vibrant cafe scene, a brewery and wineries in town. The town has strong arts and sports scenes, and there are amazing bushwalks and camping grounds in the surrounding area. The practice is also located close to spectacular waterfalls, gorges and world heritage national parks. The coast is two hours away, and there is an airport close by.
