Previously operating an open-cut mine, in 2023 Hillgrove Resources embarked on an exciting new chapter – we journeyed underground.

The Role

What a time to join Kanmantoo, we have embarked on a period of rapid growth and delivery, you will join us on this rewarding journey with us, joining the operation mining team. You will report and be supported by the Mine Technical Services Manager. You will be responsible for leading the mining aspects of the Kanmantoo underground development and the identification and evaluation of value accretive growth opportunities.



You will champion Life on Mine planning at Kanmantoo and prepare and implement achievable long- and medium-term budgets for underground operations, waste/tailings landform and rehabilitation activities. You will identify opportunities for value addition in safety improvements, revenue addition and cost savings. You will see yourself also acting as a Competent Person (JORC 2012) for reserve estimation. You will be involved in green-fields opportunities and report and have close internal relationships with all levels of the management teams. This role will be varied, interesting and having influential impact to the direction of Kanmantoo.

The Fundamentals

You will hold a Graduate qualification in Mining Engineering or recognised equivalent qualification. Having hands on underground mine experience and knowledge in drill and blast combined with practical knowledge of the Mining Act (SA) 1971, Mining Regulations 2021, Work Health and Safety Act (SA) 2012 and Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 would ensure you succeed with ease. You will have leadership skills and proven experience in leading teams.

About You

You are forward thinking, passionate and technical professional with genuine enthusiasm for underground mining with the ability to look at both the strategic and operational perspectives.



It is imperative you possess exemplary communication, prioritization, negotiation and time management skills - let’s be honest, there’s a lot to achieve here in our newly started, still scaling-up business. Your flexibility to glide between tasks will be key, with the focus of the role to identify and develop mine scale opportunities with a large hands-on technical component. Being passionate, authentic, motivated about what you do and how we deliver will be your key to success, along with having a high level of professionalism, and the ability to engage and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels throughout the entire site. You will not only follow and encourage HSE guidelines you will a role model outstanding HSE behaviour and challenge these standards.
