The Strand Hotel is looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at one of Yeppoon's best-known coastal venues.Located right on the waterfront, The Strand has been part of the Yeppoon community for more than 60 years and is a genuine local favourite.
With a busy bistro, functions, events and a diverse pub menu, this is a great opportunity for a chef who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen and wants to develop their leadership skills.The RoleWorking closely with the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help lead a team through busy services.You will be responsible for:Supporting the Head Chef with the overall kitchen operationLeading, motivating and developing the kitchen teamMaintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistencyRunning smooth and organized services in a high-volume environmentTaking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absenceAssisting with ordering, stock control and deliveriesSupporting food cost and waste managementMaintaining food safety, hygiene and WHS standardsContributing ideas to menus, specials and kitchen processesHelping create a positive and qualified kitchen cultureWhat we're looking forYou'll bring:Previous experience in a Sous Chef or senior chef roleStrong leadership and communication skillsExperience working in a busy commercial kitchenThe ability to lead a team during high-pressure servicesA strong understanding of food quality, consistency and presentationGood knowledge of stock control, ordering and food costsA hands-on approach and positive attitudeExcellent organization and time managementA genuine passion for hospitality and developing your careerSponsorship & Relocation SupportSponsorship may be available for the right candidate, assessed on a case-by-case basis and subject to eligibility and business requirements.
