About your opportunity

The Mental Health Service Group within Townsville Hospital and Health Service is currently seeking to recruit a Clinical Nurse to their team on a Permanent full time basis. This role would be located in the Townsville Community Care and Acquired Brain Injury Unit located at Kirwan Health Campus.

The primary responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse are to coordinate and monitor all patient care delivered by the multidisciplinary team and nursing professionals. With a focus on recovery and opportunities to maximise each person's unique journey in an environment that is accessible, flexible, and responsive, this role's purpose is to provide clinical expertise, education, leadership, and support to nursing staff. By utilising clinical skills, it aims to provide patients in the unit with quality consumer care and the provision of best practise.

The Townsville Community Care (TCCU) and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Unit has accommodation for 34 consumers and provides a safe, respectful environment for rehabilitation with the goal of return to independent living in the community.



All nursing staff ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care to clients identifying and practicing the principles of recovery orientated rehabilitation.

Generous remuneration package value up to $123,494 p.a. comprising:

- Salary range of $3863.10 to $4136.50 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of working with individual consumers with complex case mix.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the importance of ongoing risk evaluations and review of all persons (Consumers and staff) in relation to risk and the ability to demonstrate how to action, communicate and document identified interventions in this regard.

Requirements





- It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position.
- Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Highly Desirable:
- Tertiary Qualification relevant to the position or working towards a relevant Qualification.
- Relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing.
- Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN). If not Credentialed with ACMHN a willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for certification as Credentialed Mental Health Nurse.
- Appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 or the willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for appointment.

- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle .
- Shift Work: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- All employees of the Mental Health Service Group (MHSG) may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
