Grade 2 Laboratory Assistant – Specimen Reception

About the position:

Vacancies currently exist for Grade 2 Laboratory Assistants at our central laboratory in Heidelberg to help with the receipt and processing of pathology specimens in our Specimen Reception Department.

Be part of our dynamic team where your self-motivation, enthusiasm and teamwork will complement your technical abilities in this pivotal role. You will be responsible for prompt receipting, ID checking, sorting, and accessioning of pathology specimens as well as helping oversee the laboratories automation system.

These permanent positions will be required to work various shifts between the hours of 08:00 am and midnight Monday to Friday plus rostered weekends and public holidays. This opportunity is considered entry-level and will suit candidates looking to gain experience in a commercial laboratory setting.

About you:

The successful applicant will have:

- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures

- Accurate data entry skills
- Commitment toward excellent customer service
- Have an appreciation for quality and confidentiality
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work efficiently in a team
- Ability to participate in a 24/7 roster
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods
- Detail focused
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Candidates who have previous experience in pathology, particularly in Specimen Reception and have experience operating laboratory automation systems,



along with a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques will be well regarded
