This position is available in our Narrabri, Inverell or Moree office.
The purpose of this role is to work in a cooperative partnership model to deliver clinical mental health services. The role involves providing interventions across the lifespan, including psychological therapies for people with mild to moderate mental health conditions and clinical care coordination for people with chronic and complex mental health conditions, including those affected by Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence (DFSV).
The position reports to the Service Delivery Wellbeing Team Leader(s) and collaborates with the broader HealthWISE services to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and culturally competent mental health services.
Relocation grants may be available through the Rural Doctors Network.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Skills and Practice
- Possess and apply specialized trauma focused mental health clinical skills relevant to the role. Support recovery by providing trauma-informed and focused psychological interventions to individuals and families experiencing complex mental health conditions resulting from trauma and abuse.
- Work within your scope of practice and apply skills, competence, and training to provide services compliant with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant professional bodies such as the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Provide person-centred, culturally appropriate, holistic, and recovery-oriented care focused on collaboration and coordination of care.
Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of quality, evidence-based, recovery-focused mental health services, including person-centred planning and the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions.
- Coordinate with other health and support services already provided to people with moderate to severe mental illness and complex needs, including services to support victims of Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence (DFSV).
- Work as part of the HealthWISE Mental Health Team and add value to all activities and services of HealthWISE.
Cultural Competence and Community Engagement
- Demonstrate cultural competence through training and community engagement.
- Integrate traditional healing practices where appropriate.
- Develop and participate in intergenerational programs and mental health outreach initiatives. Utilize relevant support services to ensure effective communication and provide culturally tailored therapies.
Virtual Care
- Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of, or experience in, delivering services via Virtual Care, including Telehealth, as related to this role.
Role Criteria:
Essential
- Relevant qualifications in mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology, or a related field.
- Registration with the relevant professional body.
- Experience in providing clinical mental health services and working with diverse populations.
- Strong clinical skills in mental health care including use of clinical information systems, documentation skills and data requirements.
- Commitment to culturally responsive care and understanding of Closing the Gap initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity.
- Experience with virtual care technologies and telehealth.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work after hours if required.
Desirable
- Experience working with trauma and abuse survivors across the lifespan.
- Specialist skill sets in trauma recovery including evidence of professional development.
