About the role

The Mater in Mind Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) currently has an opportunity for a Mental Health Clinician to join the team in a permanent position. Full Time and Part Time will be considered.

The Mater in Mind Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service is a specialised mental health team providing mental health consultation, liaison, advice and brief interventions to Mater Health services, including infant and perinatal services patients who are experiencing a psychiatric disorder, illness or psychological distress.

Salary range: Commensurate with experience (RN2 or HP3) plus superannuation + Salary Packaging access up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing?

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

- Receive referrals to the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service and ensure a timely response




- Facilitate access to mental health services for patients with mental health needs or other adequate follow up is arranged for their ongoing care upon discharge
- Provide expertise, advice, education, and support to non-mental health professionals, building the capacity for non-mental health professionals to manage individuals with physical and psychiatric comorbidities
- Provide advice and assistance in the development of effective Mental Health interventions for patients experiencing psychiatric and/or emerging behavioural problems who are receiving medical treatment
- To provide expert psychiatric Mental Health assessment and ensure patients receive consistent, coordinated care that addresses their psychological and physical needs
- Provide ongoing assessment to monitor and review the effectiveness of intervention strategies implemented
- Contribute and participate in the development and implementation of education programs, relevant to Consultation Liaison Psychiatry
- Demonstrates leadership as a role model and clinical leader for the provision of excellence in patient care through the use of evidence-based practice and professional commitment
- Provides mentorship for new and less experienced staff as required

About you

Essential:

- Current registration with AHPRA
- Minimum of three years full time equivalent clinical experience in area of specialty.





- Experience within liaison psychiatry
- Experience working in older adult mental health
- Experience working in addiction
- Confidence working independently
- Experience conducting biopsychosocial assessments including risk assessments
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant specialty
