Research Assistant
Molecular and Genomics Diagnostic Laboratory

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced laboratory or research assistant to join our data production and diagnostic laboratory, with a focus on next-generation sequencing.
The laboratory encompasses a broad range of applications focusing on genomic and biomarker analysis. The successful applicant will use their expertise in a broad range of standard molecular biology and next-generation sequencing techniques.
The role supports the processing of customer samples for research contracts, consumer tests, clinical trials and diagnostic services. The candidate will be responsible for the timely and appropriate processing of samples through established protocols, as part of an integrated team.

The successful candidate will have a direct impact on both the company and the global community by contributing to product excellence, efficacious therapy, and scalable revenue growth, helping Microba achieve its company strategy and objectives.
Key accountabilities for the role are:
- Understanding and adhering to regulatory requirements,
standard operating procedures, and guidelines in a PC2 laboratory
- Process clinical and research samples and perform laboratory processes according to specified protocols with appropriate data generation and quality control
- Accurate data recording and documentation record keeping
- Operate, program, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Training workshops and online webinars as required
- Inventory and stocktaking activities
The role also supports the broader activities of all Microba business units, including research services, internal development of microbiome-based therapeutics and maintenance of laboratory-based partnerships.
What will you bring to the role:
Experience & Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with Honours in a relevant field (or demonstrated equivalent experience in an active laboratory over a 3 year period)
- Understanding of genomic technologies
- Experience in molecular biology techniques
- Demonstrated experience in data entry and analysis
Advantageous
- Good Clinical Practice Certification
- Internal Auditor training
- Professional body memberships
- Science, Healthcare, other qualifications in a related field
- Experience in Healthcare or exposure including regulatory environments
- Technology start-up exposure and/or expansion and growth phase exposure
- Demonstrated expertise with a broad range of molecular techniques or significant specialised skills in the field of next generation sequencing
