Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values (QPS) along with the following accountabilities:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Participate in the day to day operation of Central Specimen Reception including the specimen referral function.
- Exercise judgement and discretion in undertaking various tasks whilst being responsible for the quality of work undertaken.
- Ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet service delivery deadlines
- Contribute to the CSR teams KPI objectives and performance goals by managing workloads appropriately and prioritising tasks.
- Build relationships with customers by using strong communication skills to achieve optimal workflow in specimen reception.
- Comply with and utilise procedures, policies,
regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including the Queensland Health Code of Conduct, contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control, Equal Employment Chance and Anti-discrimination Policy.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

- Knowledge and skills in computer-based systems is required to undertake the role.
- A continually developing understanding of medical terminology.
- Training and Certification is mandatory for shippers of biological substances for air transport.
- The Pathology Queensland - Townsville Laboratory delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. In this workplace, all newly appointed staff are contracted to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. For Clinical Assistants this will mean day, evening and night shifts. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
