We are on the lookout for a focused Phlebotomist to join our all-star team at Queensland Health in Sunshine Coast, QLD.

Ensure correct patient identification, labelling and collecting techniques are followed according to documented policies and procedures. Perform operational duties which include restocking pathology consumables, maintaining clean work areas and assisting where the Phlebotomy Coordinator directs.

What are we looking for?

- Experience in the collection of diagnostic samples from a range of patients including children and babies.
- Demonstrated experience of the correct procedures for the performance of laboratory tests including processing and setting up techniques within the Pathology department.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team setting.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.

Mandatory qualifications, licences and other requirements:

- In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24 hour shift or on-call arrangements.




- To be eligible for permanent appointment to Pathology Queensland applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. To be eligible for temporary appointment applicants must provide proof that they can legally work in Australia.
- Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.
- We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed. All applicants are encouraged to advise the panel of any support or reasonable adjustments (i.e. building access, wheelchair access, interpreting services etc.) that may be required.
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 ( Health Employment Directive No. 12/21(PDF) ( ) and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70(PDF) ( ) .
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
