The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees' Association (SDA) is one of Australia's largest Unions with over 200,000 members nationally. We look after the interests of retail, fast food and warehouse workers.
The Role
The SDA is seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our team as Casual Union Organisers. The Casual Union Organiser role is for at least 15 hours per week at flexible times. It involves visiting workplaces in the retail and fast food sectors to explain workplace rights and encourage union membership.
Qualifications & experience
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to effectively multi-task, manage competing priorities and have exceptional organisational skills in a quick-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to trade union values.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Have work experience in retail or fast food.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Working independently visiting worksites.
- Encouraging new members to join the SDA, in one-on-one and group settings.
