Southside Racing operates high-class horse racing and training facilities at both Tynong and Cranbourne, as well as three, 7-day-a-week hospitality and entertainment venues - the Cardinia Club, Club Officer and Silks Cranbourne. These are a vital part of our business and allow us to provide our members with a wide range of hospitality and entertainment options.

The Opportunity

Southside Racing is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to assume the role of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator across all Southside Racing sites (Cranbourne, Pakenham, Club Officer, Cardinia Club and Silks). The role of the WHS Coordinator is to support the Manager of Risk and Governance in driving WHS strategies across all sites and support managers and leaders in the organisation in managing WHS requirements.

The WHS Coordinator will ensure that initiatives are implemented that foster a culture of safety and wellbeing across the organisation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Maintaining the Health, Safety and Environment Management System
- Supporting projects and initiatives to promote sustainability across the Club
- Conducting comprehensive risk assessments of work processes, equipment and facilities to identify potential hazards




- Facilitating and overseeing the timely reporting of incidents, accidents and near misses, undertaking incident investigations are required
- Conducting safety assessments and internal audits to assess safety performance across sites
- Preparing and delivering safety communications and initiatives including safety alerts, meetings, toolboxes, presentations and emergency drills and exercises
- Coordinating Emergency Response systems and processes
- Assisting managers and leaders in managing workplace health and safety across our various sites, including providing timely and relevant advice on all safety related matters
- Communicating, engaging with and influencing managers, employees and other stakeholders to mitigate risk and drive positive safety outcomes
- Assisting in identifying WHS training requirements
- Analysing and applying data to identify trends and information to monitor and report on WHS performance
- Supporting and facilitating the maintenance of all Health and Safety documentation, policies and procedures
- Ensuring the organisation’s adherence to all relevant health and safety regulations, standards and guidelines

Requirements





- Completion of a tertiary Health and Safety qualification or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge of state and federal WHS legislation
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply policies and procedures that meet WHS requirements
- Demonstrated strong understanding and capability in hazard identification, risk assessments and controls
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough workplace inspections and report findings
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of individuals at different levels, both internally and externally to the business
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Works with integrity and ethical responsibility
- Effective skills such as empathy, tolerance and understanding

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday within business hours, but may require some work outside of these hours from time to time.
